The Elgin Owls fought through some tough competition at the Class 5A Dual State wrestling tournament, but in the end they were crowned champions.
Head coach Cody Rowell knows that it was a team effort and he is proud of his squad.
“I had several wrestlers play a vital role at dual state,” Rowell said. “Our seniors Gabe Dittmeyer, Jack Anglley had crucial wins along with freshman Braxten Antuna, Kason Meyer, and Talon Tahdooahnippah. Ritson Meyer, Jace Williams, Colyn Donnelly, Hunter Jackson, George Tahdooahnippah, Dylan Brown had great weekends as well. Gage Elam is the last I would like to mention and he wrestled probably the best out of any of his teammates. Overall we had to have everyone pitch in and even through adversity they found a way to win. We have a great group of kids.”
